ABOUT
Derek Foster is a British composer and performer (piano and vibraphone).
He studied composition at Morley College (Birtwistle, Gilbert, Wood and Daiken), BMus at Goldsmiths (composition with Tim Ewers), piano privately with Donald Ray and Keith Burrows.
His music has been played at colleges, universities, music festivals and societies throughout Britain, and in Europe and the U.S.

As a performer, Derek was a member of Morley Musica Viva, cond. Michael Graubart (’70s and ’80s), Nomos, cond. Paul Webster (’80s and ’90s), London Contemporary Chamber Orchestra and its predecessor, cond. Alan Taylor (2003-2012). He is currently a member of the ensemble Contakt and duettist with composer/pianist Anthony Green, has accompanied instrumentalists and singers and played with various ensembles and orchestras.
